Subtitles come with the service
Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, JioHotstar and the other major services include subtitles in several languages for most films. They are timed by the service, so the lines match the picture.
Switch them on
Open the speech-bubble or audio icon in the player and pick your language. On a TV the same menu sits behind the down or options button. Most apps remember your choice for the next film.
Films in other languages
Parasite, RRR, Spirited Away and The Intouchables are best in their original language with subtitles. The film page shows the original language before you start.
Dubbed versions
Family films such as Zootopia 2 and Moana are often dubbed into Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and other languages; look for the audio menu next to the subtitles.
